HawaDal Peace of Mind – Raising Cancer Awareness

HawaDal Peace of Mind, a Leeds-based project working to support victims of FGM and domestic abuse, held an event on 24th February 2024 to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection.

Madame Diallo Hawa Bah, Founder of HawaDal Peace of Mind, writes:

Thank you to all who attended and engaged with such an open mind and heart. By coming together as a community to learn and discuss this topic, we are helping break down barriers and spread awareness that early detection truly saves lives.
A special thanks to Darren from the NHS for taking the time to educate us and answer our questions. The information and resources he provided are invaluable.
And finally, thank to John from West Yorkshire Police for an impactful and insightful session on the police’s role and response regarding crime. It was a perspective many of us never considered and his transparency brought depth to this important dialogue.
This event helped renew our commitment to spread awareness, provide support, and walk hand-in-hand with those fighting this disease. By better understanding the challenges they face, we can better stand up and speak out. Our community is stronger and more inclusive because you cared enough join us.
Thank you to our incredible organising team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event come to fruition. Your dedication and commitment to this cause is inspiring.
