Horsforth is a prosperous area but like everywhere else issues of loneliness and struggles with mental health can be a daily battle for some local residents.
Since early in 2019 a group of volunteers drawn from across the Churches have been working together to renovate the disused Scout Hut at St James Church Woodside and transform it into a Community Workshop.
The aim is to create a space for people to connect, converse and create, typically doing bits of woodwork or metalwork using the appropriate tools in a safe environment.
It’s about drawing people together to have fun, sharing skills and knowledge with like-minded people and hopefully gaining a renewed sense of purpose and belonging.
The Shed includes a social area and kitchen with fully accessible toilet facilities. This has been a resurrection story, changing a bleak building that had no obvious future into a place of blessing and hopefulness.
We thank God for the huge amount of support the project has received from across the community.
The promise of Jesus is that He came ‘ that they may have life, and have it to the full.”John 10v10.
We ask for prayer that the right people will be drawn to the opportunities that the Shed offers.
