MHA enables around 3,000 people in Leeds to live later life well by delivering community-based services and activities. We thank God for our partnership with local people, organisations and our volunteers who help older people to be more active, engaged and happy within their communities.
Our prayer is to do more. Over 8,000 older people in Leeds are living with dementia (Alzheimer’s Research UK); this number is increasing along with the need for specialist support services. We hope to implement life-enhancing music therapy across Leeds.
Music therapy helps to reduce the symptoms associated with dementia including anxiety and agitation; it gives the individual a chance to re-connect with their feelings, emotions and memories. Please pray that we are able to reach people living with dementia and fulfil their needs through this project.
Isaiah 49:15 reassures us that even though some of us may struggle and forget, God will never forget us.
